At Geelong Neuro Centre, we offer Intensive Therapy programs for adults with neurological conditions such as spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, stroke, brain injury, and other movement disorders. This approach is gaining recognition globally for its effectiveness in making significant improvements in a shorter amount of time. Our therapists create personalised therapy plans tailored to your needs, focusing on intensity, duration, and the right tools to help you reach your goals.
Our therapists start with a thorough assessment and then work closely with you to set specific goals for your intensive program. We have a wide range of therapy techniques and equipment available, including the LiteGait Balance and Gait System, Saebo therapy equipment, FES bike, our SENSe retraining program, and Biskutt swallowing software.

What Does an Intensive Therapy Program Look Like?
Depending on your condition, goals, and personal circumstances, an intensive therapy program typically runs 2–6 hours a day, for 3 to 8 weeks. You can choose to focus on one discipline or take a multidisciplinary approach, with input from different specialists.
While 4 or more hours a day may sound like a lot, many clients thrive in this structured environment. The routine, repetition, and continuous support help achieve your goals more quickly, while boosting your confidence. Our therapists will check in with you regularly, adjusting the plan as needed, and celebrating your wins along with you!
Why Choose Intensive Therapy at Geelong Neuro Centre?
- World-Class Equipment & Therapy Techniques: We offer a variety of therapy options, using the latest equipment and technologies tailored to your specific needs.
- Specialised Multidisciplinary Team: GNC is equipped to support clients with complex neurological conditions. We bring together specialists and innovative therapies to create a plan that works for you.
- Collaboration with Your External Team: We work alongside your external therapy team to ensure continuity of care, so we’re all focused on the same goals. It’s not uncommon for clients to have two therapists in the same discipline, for example, two occupational therapists—one focusing on intensive therapy and the other on equipment prescription.
- Great Value for Your Funding: Clients often find intensive therapy more cost-effective than traditional weekly sessions. Since progress is faster, you can achieve your goals more quickly and move on to the next phase of your therapy.
- Flexible Days & Hours: We offer flexible scheduling, allowing us to tailor your program to fit your needs and commitments outside of therapy.
- Accelerated Progress: Intensive therapy sessions are concentrated and focused, leading to faster progress in achieving your therapy goals compared to traditional approaches.
