Drive your wheelchair with your AAC System
DROVE is an Australian-made innovation that allows you to drive your wheelchair independently using your AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) system. Whether it’s through eye gaze or switch control, we’ll work with you to find the perfect solution. With DROVE, you don’t need arm function or control to navigate your wheelchair around your home.
This groundbreaking device, developed right here in Australia, is a world first. The creators describe it as having “invisible tram tracks” in your home, enabling your wheelchair to smoothly and safely move from room to room.

Trial DROVE at Our Clinic
We’re thrilled to announce that our clinic is an official DROVE trial site! This means you can come in, try the device, and see if it’s the right fit for you.
Meet with Our Team: Our Seating and Positioning Clinic Occupational Therapists will discuss your current function and goals. If you have an external OT or treating team, we’ll liaise with them to ensure a collaborative approach.
- Set Up Your Wheelchair: We’ll install DROVE on your wheelchair and teach you how to use it.
- Explore the Space: Experience navigating our clinic using DROVE and see how it works for you.
- Plan for Home Use: If DROVE is the right solution, we’ll guide you through the next steps:
– Conduct a home visit to assess your environment.
– Prepare and submit a funding application.
– Support you in purchasing and setting up DROVE at home. - Training and Support: Once everything is in place, we’ll provide training for you, your family, and your support workers to ensure everyone is confident using DROVE.
If DROVE is the right solution for you, we’ll obtain a quote for the device from Control Bionics.
The cost of the DROVE trial will depend on your individual needs and the number of sessions required. This fee also includes non-face-to-face time, such as preparing reports and coordinating with equipment suppliers. Your therapist will go over all pricing details with you as part of planning your personalised program.
