Occupational Therapy at The Geelong Neuro Centre
Occupational therapy focuses on supporting an individual by facilitating health and wellbeing in all aspects of daily life including:
- productive activities such as education, work, volunteering and caring for others
- leisure/ social activities such as being part of a community group, engaging in a hobby or being part of a friendship group
- taking care of yourself or others
- Returning to driving
Therapy is goal directed based on what you are hoping to achieve. For some, it may be helping people transition home from hospital, modify their house or source appropriate equipment to maximise independence. For others it may be retraining someone to use their arm again, establishing a daily routine, providing strategies with memory and thinking or managing pain caused by their condition.
Our clinicians are all highly skilled in neurological techniques and technologies including: Saebo, functional electrical stimulation, splinting and casting and functional retraining.
